Welcome to our little corner of the world. My name is Denise McLoughlin , Family History Coordinator for the Tampico Area Historical Society (TAHS) and your host for this site. My goal is to provide as much historical, genealogical and local information to those with an interest or roots in the Tampico, Yorktown, Thomas, Hume, and Deer Grove areas. I welcome your comments and contributions. This is a continual work-in-progress, so please check back often. If you are researching family history in this area, you may want to post a query on the Message Board. We have many helpful “regulars” with expertise in this area. I will also help in any way I can by checking the archives at the Tampico Area Historical Society & Museum. This is all FREE OF CHARGE.
The Family History page will provide you with instructions for submitting your family history to the Society. Thank you and enjoy! (click on any highlighted titles in the Table of Contents. Quick Reference Tabs also located at top of this page.
I am MOST proud of our on-going CEMETERY projects. From our TABLE OF CONTENTS page, scroll down to the Cemetery" section to find the indices for our area cemeteries. These indices include the name, birth/death date and location in cemetery. It is my goal to incorporate a photo of the gravestone, funeral log information, obituary, photo of person, and bios for each individual. This is a tremendous undertaking, so please check often for updates (or sign up for e-newsletter). I have started with the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. If you know of errors or have additional information to add for any of our cemetery listings, you are encouraged to PLEASE contact Denise McLoughlin with this information!

TAMPICO AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY HOURS OF OPERATION:
OPEN APRIL THROUGH OCTOBER ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS FROM 1 - 4 P.M. or by Appointment. Three doors down from the Tampico Historical Society is the Reagan Birthplace which is open 7 days a week April-Oct. The Birthplace staff can let you in to the Historical Society building if they are not giving a tour. Contact president Joan Johnson or Denise McLoughlin to arrange a visit during "off" times. Travelers may want to stay at the Canal House Bed & Breakfast in town. Note: If you are traveling any distance, I highly recommend you call first. We are an all-volunteer organization and subject to availability of volunteers. A pre-arranged visit will guarantee you someone will be there to assist you. Thank you.
