GEORGE KNOX PASSED AWAY MONDAY NIGHT
HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY SINCE CHILDHOOD - -
SERVICES THURSDAY
George KNOX, 78, who has been seriously ill for some time with heart trouble, passed away at his home about midnight Monday evening. Although his death had not been unexpected it came as a great shock to his famiy and his large circle of friends here.

funeral services will be held at the home at two o'clock Thursday afternoon. Interment will be in the Tampico Memorial cemetery.

George KNOX, son of Alexander and Rachael KNOX was born in Indiana, September 11, 1865 (sic). When a small child he came to Tampico with his parents where he attended school. He was married January 1, 1883 to Anna LaVigne who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jonnie STEADMAN of Tampico and one son Ralph KNOX of Rock Falls, a half-brother, H. E. CAIN of Tampico and ten grandchldren

Mr. & Mrs. KNOX farmed for manyyears before they moved to Tampico whre for the past twelve years, Mr. KNOX acted as mail carrier from the post office to the depot. ***end of obit***

(Note: birth year for Mr. Knox should be 1856 - The newspaper obit transposed the numbers and his headstone says 1855)
