Arlene E. Hansen, age 96, of  4932 Grand Ave., Western Springs, Illinois and formerly of Tampico, Illinois, died Thursday, May 01, 2008, at her home.


She was born on January 10, 1912 in Thomas, Illinois, the daughter of Amiel and Anna (Sandrock) Pierson. She was united in marriage to Howard Hansen on August  16, 1936 at Yorktown Lutheran Church in Yorktown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1998. She was a country school teacher near Tampico, Illinois. She is a member of Grace  Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Illinois, the Women's Club at the church and Royal Neighbors in New Bedford, Illinois. She was also a member of Daisy Hill Questers and a quilting group.


She is survived by one daughter Karen (Ronald) Souders of Western Spring, Illinois; four grandchildren Katie (Jeff) Pogue of LaGrange, Illinois, Laurie (Brian) Sherman of Phoenix, Arizona, Rodney Kerchner of Beavercreek, Ohio, Steven (Cara) Kerchner of Hamilton, Ohio, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded  in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Vernon Pierson and Clarence Pierson.


Funeral services were conducted on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Illinois with Dr. Sald Ailabouni, officiating. Graveside services at the Yorktown Cemetery near Tampico, Illinois. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Grace Lutheran Church.
