James Varian a former resident of this place and well known to the older inhabitants died quite suddenly at his home in  Hecla, South Dakota, last Saturday according to messages received by Mrs. W. A., was visiting him when the end came. The deceased was 80  years of age last April and had resided in Dakota for many years moving there from Tampico in the 80's. He had visited in Tampico quite frequently and had many friends here who had admired his rugged, homespun honesty, geniality and other admirable characteristcs.
