David Leroy Heintzelman was born to Frank Heintzelman and Esther Howlett on Nov. 14, 1892 in Lockport, IL. He had operated a steam locomotive during his 35 year career as a locomotive engineer on the Joliet-Elgin & Eastern Railroad. He was a lifetime honorary member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Div. 520.  He had lived in Tampico, IL, and later in Joliet, IL. He retired to Hayward in 1958. He was widowed. He was survived by two daughters Mrs. Viola Buckley and Bernadine Kunkle of Coquille, OR, a son Vernon Heintzelman of Las Vegas, NV, three brothers Frank Heintzelman of Joliet, IL, Asa Heintzelman of Las Vegas, NV, and James Newell of IL, a sister Mrs. Myrtle Simon of Joliet, IL, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and special friend Pearl Fryar. Funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home, Hayward, WI on Mar. 3, 1968 with burial at Greenwood Lane Cemetery.
