HARRIETTE  (Glassburn)  GARLAND

 

Mrs. Gordon Garland Succumbs After Extended Illness

 

Funeral rites were conducted this Tuesday morning for Mrs. Gordon (Harriette) Garland, 46, of Shore Acres, Rock Falls, who died at 10 a.m. Sunday in her home after an extended illness. A rosary was said at 8 p.m. Monday in the Grennan and Son Funeral Home where the prayer service was held at 9. a.m.

 

There was a requiem mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Rock Falls. Burial was made in St. Mary's  Cemetery at Tampico.

 

Mrs. Garland was born Jan. 26, 1922 in Tampico, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Glassburn. She was united in marriage to Gordon Garland Sept. 23, 1940 in Tampico by the Rev. A. Weitekamp. She had spent her entire liefetime in this vicinity. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church and of the Altar and Rosary Society, Rock Falls.

 

Surviving with the husband are three daughters at home, Georgianne, Mary Sue and Rita Rae.  Mrs. Garland also leaves two sisters, Miss Vida Glassburn of Rock Falls and Miss Marianne Glassburn of DeKalb.

Rites Conducted For Mrs. Gordon Garland

 

Funeral rites for Mrs. Gordon Garland were conducted Tuesday morning. There was a 9 a.m. prayer service in the Grennan and Son Funeral Home and requiem mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andrew's Catholic Church.  The Rev. William Meyers officiated.

 

Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tampico.  The pallbearers were Merle Marx, LeRoy Gray, Harry Hurd, Kenneth Olson, Don Owens and Al Melville. Flowers were taken care of by Mrs. LeRoy Gray.
