            Shelia V. “Jenny” VanDamme

 

            Shelia V. “Jenny” VanDamm, 67, of rural Prophetstown passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at Proctor Hospital, Peoria, IL. Funeral services celebrating her life were held Friday, May 30, 2008 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Ltd., Atkinson. Burial was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hooppole. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be left to the Shelia “Jenny” VanDamme Memorial Fund.

            Jenny was born on July 30, 1940 in Pekin, IL the daughter of Jurgen F. and Virgina Berg. She was united in marriage to Joseph VanDamme on July 29, 1978 in Geneseo, IL. Jenny was employed for 24 years as a restaurant manager at the former Atkinson Plaza and later as a cashier at the gas island. She enjoyed playing cards and crafting, especially baby blankets.

            Survivors include her husband Joseph, two daughters Lori (Frank) DeLarosa, Glendale, AZ; Rhonda Rains, Milan, IL; three sons Bruce (Judeen) Rains, Geneseo, IL; Rick VanDamme, Annawan, IL; Randy VanDamme, Kewannee, IL; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and a sister Kathy Opp, Macomb, IL and several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
