GEORGE  KLOCKENGA

 

Prophetstown: - George Klockenga, 92, of 209 Riverside Drive, Prophetstown, died April 18, 1994, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Leon United Methodist Church, rural Prophetstown, with Steve Hartman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Leon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown. A memorial has been established.

 

George was born Oct. 25, 1901, in Hartsburg, the son of Harm and Sena (Oltmanns) Klockenga.  He married Matie Blumhoff, Feb. 10, 1925 at the Lyndon Methodist Parsonage. The couple farmed in the Prophetstown, Tampico, and Thomas communities until 1968, when they retired and moved into Propheststown. His wife died in 1980.  He was a member of Leon United Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include one son, Richard (Debbie) Klockenga of Talmadge, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Piepho of Sterling; and three brothers, Gilbert Klockenga,  Sr., of Prophestown, William Klockenga of Rock Falls and Raymond Klockenga of Tampico.

 

He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
