FLORENCE  A.  (Munson)  FANNING

 

Belleville: - Mrs. Florence A. Fanning, 419 S. 14th St., Belleville, formerly of Tampico, died Sunday morning at Schoot Air Force Base Medical Center in Belleville.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Allen-Schmitt-Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, with the Rev. Gary Phillips, pastor of the Tampico Church of Christ, officiating.  Committal services will be conducted in Jacksonville, on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Diamond Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home in Tampico on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorail has been established in her memory to the American Cancer Fund and the student fund at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

 

Mrs. Fanning was the daughter of Otto and Minnie Crosell Munson.  She was united in marriage to Robert J. Fanning in 1942.  He preceded her in death in 1948.  She was a graduate of Tampico High School and received her Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Math and Education from the University of Illinois. She taught math in the Arenvillle and Pekin schools. She was affiliated with the Radio Department at Scott Air Force Base and was also an instructor in the Training Division. She had been  a Principal of Ramey School in Puerto Rico, and was Associate Professor Emeritus of the Math Department at SIU, Edwardsville.

 

Surviving are one brother, Perry Munson, Moline; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Janice) Anderson, Lynn Center and Mrs. Jewell Renner, Manhatten Beach, Calif.

 

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two sisters and two brothers.
