AVA  L.  CHARLESTON

 

Sterling: - Ava L. Charleston, 67, of 1822 17th Ave., Sterling, died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at CGH Medical Center, following an extended illness. 



Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Allen-Melvin Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Rev. Don George, pastor of the Rock River Christian Center, Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be at

Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established.

 

Mrs. Charleston was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Harmon Township, the daughter of Warlo and Grace (Bailey) Wallace. She married Charlie R. Charleston, Jr., on June 28, 1975, in Sterling.  She was employed at Harper-Wyman, Sterling, Kountry Kitchen, Sterling, and the Landmark Restaurant, Lyndon, prior to retiring.  She was a member of the Palmyra Grange. She enjoyed traveling.

 

Survivors include her husband, Charlie of Sterling, several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
