VIDA  M.  GLASSBURN

 

Vida Glassburn Dies Tuesday

 

Vida M. Glassburn, 67, of 2121 Riverview Road, Rkock Falls, passed away at Community General Hospital early Tuesday morning after a long illness.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Sterling with the Rev. LeRoy Hershiser, pastor officiating.  Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be at the Allen Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  The body will be moved to the church at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday to lie in state until the hour of service.  A memorial has been established to the Whiteside County Cancer Fund.

 

Vida Glassburn was born March 13, 1907 in Tampico, the daughter of Ralph L. and Georgia L. LaDue Glassburn. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Sterling and superintendent of the home Hospital until its closing.  She was employed by the Whiteside County Public Health for one and a half years prior to her retirement.

 

Vida Glassburn is survived by one sister, Marianne of Rock Falls;  three nieces, Mrs. Charles (Georgianne) Yost of DeKalb,  Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Murnick of Lemont, and Rita Garland of Rock Falls.

 

Preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ronald L., and one sister, Mrs. Gordon (Harriette) Garland.
