Body of Warren Hixon Interred In Tampico


Tampico, Ill., June 23 - (Special) - The remains of the late Warren Hixon arrived Wednesday on an afternoon train and were taken to the Tampico Cemetery, where burial services were held in charge of the Masonic order.  The following obituary was read at that time.


Joseph Warren Hixon, was born near Springsboro, Ohio, in 1840.  When a young man he moved to Illinois where he was married to Abbigal S. Oatman of the same place.  To this union were born four children, Mrs. Ward of Hollywood, California, Mrs. Grace M. Odair of Chicago, Mrs. Dell Wright of Columbia and a son Frank Hixon who preceded him two years ago at Hot Springs, Arkansas, his wife also having preceded him 35 years ago.


Mr. Hixon came with his family to South Dakota 45 years ago, coming from Tampico, Illinois. He has made his home in this community the greater part of this time.  He was a member of the Masonic order, the Ancient order of the United Workmen.  He was a most kind and devoted husband and father and made friends wherever he went and was highly respected in very walk of life.  He leaves beside his daughters, eight gtandchildren, ten great grandchildren of whom he was very fond.  He also leaves a sister Jane Brashare of Chicago.


Among those from out of town attending the services were Mrs. John Adair, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Adair and Earl Adair of Chicago, Mrs. Chas. Wright of Columbia, So. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hixon of Genesea, John Olsson and Mrs. Raymond of Rockford, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Williams of Sterling.
