Funeral arrangements are completed at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral Home in Rock Falls for one Whiteside County's oldest residents, Frederick G. Near, 1301 Sycamore Dr., Rock Falls, who died Wednesday morning in the Whiteside County Nursing Home at the age of 100.
 
Mr. Near was born June 23, 1866 in Mendota, the son of German and Sarah Near. He was united in marriage to Leona Mason July 4, 1894, in Lostant. The couple farmed 32 years at Deer Grove, retiring 31 years ago.  He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Pansy Matthews of Rock Falls, with whom he made his home, Mrs. Ruth Bond of Rockford, and Mrs. Dale (Margaret) Exner of R.R. 2, Rock Falls; four sons, George of Coloma Courts, Rock Falls; Russell, Sterling; Vernon, Dixon and Harry, Fulton; 33 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, 34 great great grandchildren.
 
He was preceded by his wife, four brotheers and one sister. Funral services will be Friday, 2:30 p.m. at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Ward, pastor of the 1st Christian Church of Rock Falls, officiating, with burial in Tampico Memorial Cemetery, Tampico, Ill.
 
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday.
