JULIA  (Lamphere)  MATTHEWS 

Julia Matthews Succumbs Wednesday 

Prophetstown - Julia Lamphere Matthews, 73, Prophetstown, died Wednesday at her home. 

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Leon Methodist Church, with the Rev. Preston Woods officiating.  Burial will be in Leon Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gardner Funeral Chapel from 7- 9 p.m. Wednesday. 

Julia Matthews was born Dec. 21, 1898 at Prophetstown, the daughter of Wyatt and Lillie Hille Lanphere.  She attended Prophetstown schools and was married to Henry Matthews at Prophetstown, Feb. 7, 1918.  They lived all their married life in the Leon community. 

Survivors include her husband, one son, Lauren, Lyndon and one daughter, Mrs. Forrest (Mary Ellen) Pritchard, Prophetstown; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
