MINERVA  DAVIS

Funeral of Mrs. Minerva Davis Held In Tampico

Tampico, Ill., April 28 -- (Special) - Relatives have received a message Sunday of the death of Mrs. Minerva Davis at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Foy, at Congress Park, Ill.  The remains were brought here Monday evening and taken to Parents' undertaking parlors.

Mrs. Davis was for many years a resident of Tampico. She and her husband, Lester Davis, conducted a grocery and restaurant and lived in the flat above on the east side of Main street.  Mrs. Davis was a devoted mother and a kind neighbor.  She was a member of the Baptist Church of this place and a member of the R.N.A. Lodge, also of the Mystic Workers.

Mrs. Davis was taken ill about two years ago with cancer, but not until six weeks ago did her condition become critical.

The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon.  Rev. Theo. Meyer had charge of the services.  Duets were sung by Mrs. Neva Denison and Mrs. G. V. Clum, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. R. F. Woods.  Floral tributes were many and beautiful, evidencing the esteem in which she was held in the community.  The casket bearers were Frank Davis, Will Smith, Earle Smith, Ernest McKenzie, Fred Pierce and Mack Pierce.  Interment was in the family lot by the side of her late husband in the Tampico Cemetery.
