Helen Wallace

WALNUT – Helen L. Wallace, 87, of Walnut Manor Nursing Home died Monday, July 12, 2010, at the nursing home. She was employed by Avanti Foods, Walnut, before retiring.

Mrs. Wallace was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Sheffield, the daughter of Harold and Fern (Utts) Humphrey. She married Franklin A. Wallace on Dec. 28, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1994.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Walnut.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Carolyn) Wallace of Tampico and Randall (Rosie) Wallace of Walnut; one sister, Mary Lou Tarrant of Atalissa, Iowa; one brother, Robert Odell of Rock Falls; one son-in-law, Lauren Tornow of Walnut; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Betty Ann Tornow; and two grandsons.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Eldon Cook, pastor of Walnut Community Bible Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to Walnut Manor Nursing Home and First Christian Church of Walnut.
