Elsie Lysell

September 16, 1917 - June 12, 2010

ELSIE LYSELL, 92, of Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center, Mechanicsville, IA, formerly of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Elsie was born September 16, 1917, in Prophetstown, IL, to Jesse and Elizabeth (Racke) Oetzel. She was educated in the Prophetstown grade schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School. She married Ernest V. Lysell on April 11, 1939, in Morrison, IL. He died December 17, 2001. Elsie and Ernest farmed in the Morrison, IL and Tampico, IL areas. She also worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at the Tampico High school for several years. She was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church where she participated in the United Methodist Women Organization. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Elsie enjoyed cooking and visits from her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Ed) Francis of Geneseo, IL and Nancy Christiansen of Stanwood, IA; three grandchildren, Tony (Tena) Christiansen, Tammy McEowen, Kathy (Denny) LaMar; eight great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; one sister, Anna Mae Casson.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church

CO-OFFICIATING: Rev. Insun Yoon – Pastor of Prophetstown United Methodist Church and Rev. Phil Leipold - Pastor of the Stanwood Union Church – Stanwood, IA

VISITATION: 10:00 AM until the time of the service Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church
The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, 320 Lafayette St., Prophetstown, IL is in charge of arrangements

INTERMENT: Riverside Cemetery – Prophetstown, IL
