PROPHETSTOWN – Betty J. Toppert, 76, of 25421 N. 3000th Ave., Prophetstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at her home. She farmed with her husband in rural Prophetstown.

Mrs. Toppert was born June 4, 1934, in Lyndon, the daughter of George and Leminnie (Stork) Immel. She married Arlyn F. Toppert on Oct. 23, 1955, in Prophetstown. She was a former member of Lyndon Congregational Church.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Beth (John Butemeyer) Toppert of Grapevine, Texas; three sons, Mark (Jane) Toppert of Brady, Texas, Kent (Gaye) Toppert of New Braunfels, Texas, and Gary (Marcy) Toppert of Merkel, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lorel Huyett, Catherine Karlberg, and Doris Musielak; and one brother, Wesley Immel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Leon United Methodist Church, Prophetstown, with the Rev. Rolland Hayag, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Leon Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Alzheimer’s Association and American Red Cross.
