SHIRLEY E. BUCK, 84, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Center.

Shirley was born July 22, 1926 in Bureau County, IL, to John and Minnie (Lindahl) Edberg. She was educated in the rural Bureau County Grade Schools and was a 1944 graduate of Prophetstown High School in Prophetstown, IL. She married Robert Max Buck on November 1, 1946 in Prophetstown, IL. Shirley was first employed by the Rock Island Arsenal and later employed by Scott’s Grocery in Prophetstown for over 49 years. She was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church and the church’s Julia Circle. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Buck; two daughters, Sharon (Gary) Brinkmeier of Warren, IL and Susan (Max Theobald) Lanphere of Prophetstown, IL; two sons, Dan (Karen) Buck and Gary (Kelly) Buck both of Prophetstown, IL; ten grandchildren, Jamie (Anita) Gerlach, Chad (Trish) Gerlach, Tim (Denise) Brinkmeier, Don (Rachel) Brinkmeier, Jason Lanphere, Amy (Greg) Merow, Trent (Karyn) Buck, Maggie (Jay) Linden, Rachael (Matt) Robinson, and Matt Buck; nineteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra in infancy and one sister, Alvienne Crone.

VISITATION: 5:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, 320 Lafayette Street, Prophetstown, IL

INTERMENT: Riverside Cemetery – Prophetstown, IL
