JACOB EZRA HURD

JACOB  EZRA  HURD  - 83, of RFD No. 2, Rock Falls, died Thursday evening in the Rock Falls Colonial Acres.  Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Wheelock Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Rebuck, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Sterling, officiating.  Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Rock Falls.  Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.   A memorial has been established to the Whiteside County Heart Fund in his memory.

Mr. Hurd was born August 24, 1897 in Neumaha, Nebraska, the son of Mark and Nancy (Stauffer) Hurd.  He was united in marriage to Marie Nielsen on February 9, 1921 in Tampico, Illinois, and the couple farmed their entire married life in moving from Tampico in 1926 and the present farm south of Rock Falls until he retired in 1972.  He served with the U.S. Marine Corp in World War I. 

He is survived by his wife, Marie, two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Bernadene) Carlson of Rock Falls and Mrs. Frank (Maxine) Ybarra of North Glenn, Colorado; one son Marvin J. Hurd of Sterling; one half-sister, Mrs. Franklin (Mabel) Wagner of Lakeland, Florida; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  He is preceded by his parents and four brothers.
