HENRY  M.  THORMAHLEN

Prophetstown: - Henry M. Thormahlen, 88, of 6 Elm Court, Prophetstown, died Sunday at Morrison Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30i p.m. at the Gardner Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Boxwell, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Prophetstown, officiating.  Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery.  Visitation is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel.  A memorial fund has been established to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Thormahlen was born May 15, 1892 in Dana, the son of Anton and Mattie (Wiemken) Thormahlen. He was educated in the Dana schools.  He was united in marriage to Helena Myer of Sterling on Jan. 1, 194. She preceded him in death in 1940.  He was then united in marriage to Rose Beeman of Prophetstown on Aug. 19, 1943.  He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau and the Prophet Hills Country Club.  He lived in Prophetstown when he was a young man and lived in Lyndon from 1920 to 1952 when he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Lorene) Wiersema of Port Byron and Mrs. Emory (Henrietta) Hanson of DeWitt, Iowa; one son, Chester of Prophetstown; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one half-sister, Mrs. John (Margaret) Idlewine of Fairmount, Indiana, and three half-brothers, Louis Thaden of Rankin, Lester Thaden of Tucson, Arizona and Manley Thaden of Joliet.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, two daughters, one grandson, one sister, one half-sister and two brothers.
