JOHN  O.  POULTER

Prophetstown: - John O. Poulter, 74, of 419 Washington St., died Monday at the CGH Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, at the First Congregational Church in Prophetstown. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gardner Funeral Home.  A memorial has been established to the First Congregational Church or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Poulter was born Dec. 25, 1915 in Prophetstown, son of Ralph and Viola Olson Poulter. He married Margaret Mathis on June 15, 1940 in Prophetstown.  He was a Navy veteran of WW II.  He was employed for 17 years as a painter in the construction department of the Northwestern Steel and Wire until retiring in 1980.  He was a painting contractor for many years in the Prophetstown area.  He was a member of the First Congregation Church in Prophetstown.

He is survived by his wife Margaret; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Stegmiller, Prophetstown; one son, Michael, Elizabeth City, N.C.; six grandchildren; three step granddaughters; five step great granddaughters; one brother, Ben Poulter, Prophetstown.
