WILLARD   DeWAYNE  HUNTER, SR.

Tampico:  -  Willard D. Hunter, 59, died Thursday afternoon at his home.  He had been ill for some time.

The body was removed to the Schmitt Funeral Chapel, where friends may call.  Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel Saturday at 2 p.m.  Richard Robinson, pastor of the Tampico Church of Christ officiating.  Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Hunter was born Nov. 18, 1901, the son of William and Cora Hunter.  He was educated in the Tampico schools.  He was married to Helen V. Krebs in Chicago on Oct. 7, 1925.

He was a member of the Baptist Church, served on the volunteer fire department, was Tampico township tax assessor for a period of time, and operated a grocery store until a few years ago.

Survivors are his widow, two sons, Willard, Toledo, Ohio; Robert at home; two grandchildren, Linda and Danny Hunter; his mother, Mrs. Cora Hunter, Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Whitver, Burlington, Iowa; Mrs. Velma Richardson, Sterling; one brother Don Hunter, Detroit, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, and one grandson.

Willard D. Hunter passed away Thursday afternoon after an illness of several months.  He was 59 years old. 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Schmitt Chapel with Richard Robinson, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating.

Archie Yarde Jr. sang In the Garden and The Lord's Prayer accompanied by Rick Davis.

Mrs. August Brandau, Mrs. Barney Sollars and Thomas Devine were in charge of the flowers.

Burial was in the Tampico Memorial Cenetery with Robert Scott, August Brandau, Barney Sollars, Harry Hurd Jr., Jack Bond and Don Owens served as pallbearers.

Willard D. Hunter, son of William W. and Cora Griffin Hunter was born in Tampico on Nov. 18, 1901.  He attended the Tampico schools.  On Oct 7, 1925 he was married to Helen V. Kress of Chicago, where they made their home for a time.  He had lived in Tampico 49 years, conducting a grocery store for a few years and had also been in business in Lyndon for a short time.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a past member of the Tampico Volunteer Fire Department.  He had been elected assessor of Tampico Township in the recent election.

He leaves his widow; two sons, Willard of Toledo, Ohio and Robert at home; two grandchildren, Linda and Danny; his mother, Mrs. Cora Hunter of Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Whitver of Burlington, Ia., and Mrs. Velma Richardson of Sterling; one brother, Don of Detroit, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.
