Robert Max Buck

August 18, 1925 - January 18, 2011

ROBERT MAX BUCK, 85, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Center.

Max was born August 18, 1925 in Greenwood, NE to Elmer E. and Ethel (Marshall) Buck, Sr. He was educated in the Greenwood and Ashland, NE grade schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. Max married Shirley E. Edberg on November 1, 1946 in Prophetstown, IL. She died October 30, 2010. He owned and operated, along with his brother, Ernie, Buck�s Body Shop in Prophetstown. He later was employed by General Electric in Morrison, IL and most recently was employed by Penberthy Manufacturing in Prophetstown until retiring. Following retirement, he worked as a courier for Farmers National Bank in Prophetstown. Max was a member of Prophetstown American Legion Post #522 and the Prophets Motorcyle Club. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and racing, fishing, and flying his plane.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Gary) Brinkmeier of Warren, IL and Susan (Max Theobald) Lanphere of Prophetstown, IL; two sons, Dan (Karen) Buck and Gary (Kelly) Buck both of Prophetstown, IL; ten grandchildren, Jamie (Anita) Gerlach, Chad (Trish) Gerlach, Tim (Denise) Brinkmeier, Don (Rachel) Brinkmeier, Jason Lanphere, Amy (Greg) Merow, Trent (Karyn) Buck, Maggie (Jay) Linden, Rachael (Matt) Robinson, and Matt Buck; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Luella Lewis of Lincoln, NE and Catherine (Melvin) Bundy of Gretna, NE.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; one daughter, Debra in infancy; one sister, Luetta Buck, four brothers, Donald, Harold, Ernest, and Elmer Buck.

FUNERAL SERVICE WHEN AND WHERE: 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church

OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Insun Yoon - Pastor: Prophetstown United Methodist Church

VISITATION: 12 Noon until time of funeral service Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church
