MANY PAY FINAL TRIBUTE TO LATE ALBERT FERRIS
Well Known Tampico Man is Laid To Rest Sunday Afternoon

Tampico, Ill., Nov. 28 - (Special) - The funeral services of Albert Ferris, one of Tampico's oldest and most highly respected citizens were held on Sunday afternoon at his home at 2 o'clock at the residence and 2:30 o'clock at the M. E. church. Rev. Milton D. Bayly of the Fourth Street Methodist church, Sterling, assisted by Rev. Teho Meyer, pastor of First Baptist church of Tampico, conducted the rites.

The church was filled to capacity by relatives and friends. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The familiar faces of so many of
the friends from out of town with the beautiful floral attributes attest the high esteem which was held for Mr. Ferris. Rev. Bayly paid a beautiful tribute to Mr. Ferris, pointing out the service he had performed for others and his true worth to the community.

Homer Turner of DeKalb, an old acquaintance of the family, sang "Abide With Me," "City Four Square" and "Nearer My God To Thee." Mrs. R. F. Woods accompanied him on the piano. The orders of Eastern Star and Masonic lodge attended in a body, the latter having charge of the rites at the cemetery. The casket bearers were R. F. Woods, G. J. Sherman, Roy Nelson, Burton Brown, W. J. McCreedy, J. M. Olsson. Interment was in the family lot in Tampico cemetery.

OBITUARY
Albert Ferris, son of Beo and Martha Ferris, was born in Matamorn, Franklin County, Ind., March 4, 1859. At the age of 12 he came with his parents to Whiteside County, Ill. His parents were early settlers of this county. In 1852 he was united in marriage to Rebecca J. Glassburn.

To this union was born one son, Clarence E. who died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Daisy F. Marshall of Buffalo, N. Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferris settled on a farm four and one-half miles northeast of Tampico, where they resided until 1899 when they moved to Tampico.

Mr. Ferris was engaged in the livestock business in Tampico for about twenty years with W. J. Love. He was fair minded in all his dealings always regarding the rights of others. his broad business acquaintance made him many staunch friends.  He was elected member of the city council several times, and through his efforts many of the city improvements were effected. 

At the age of 18 Mr. Ferris united with the M. E. church, of which he has always been an active member, always holding some position on the official board. At the time of his departure he was a trustee of the Tampico church.

Mr. Ferris was a member of Yorktown Lodge, A. F. & A. . of Tampico, an organization in which he took a great interest, having filled various offices of the lodge. He was member of the Modern Woodmen of America, having been one of the Chief Foresters in the local camp. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

About a year ago Mr. Ferris' health began to fail, but he never lost his faith in God and his friends which helped him to maintain his happy disposition and rise above his affliction. All that medical skill and kind hands could do has been tendered. For the last two months his faithful wife and daughter have been constantly at his bedside, ministering to his every need.

Friday morning at half past two he fell asleep to awake in that better land. Mr. Ferris leaves to mourn his departure his wife, his daughter and husband, T. J. Marshall of Buffalo, N. Y., one sister, Mrs. J. P.Glassburn, of Tampico, and three brothers, John of Sterling, Noble of Hueston, Ia., and Edwin of Draper, S. D. besides a large company of friends.
