Walnut - Carmen M. Mazzei, age 43, of 312 Meltzer Street Walnut, Illinois won his battle with colon cancer and went peacefully to meet the Lord on Tuesday February 15, 2011.

Carmen was born on November 14, 1967 in Weed, California, the son of Frank V. and Judith Ann Schuetzle. He served in the United States Air Force during Desert Storm and in Panama. He was united in marriage to Shirley Griffin on August 16, 2003 in Compton, Illinois. He was employed by Ridley Feed in Mendota, Illinois and was a volunteer with the Cub Scouts.

Carmen is survived by his wife Shirley Mazzei of Walnut, Illinois; three sons Robert (Arlene) Finley Jr. of Mendota, Illinois, Raymond Goldsberry and Andrew Mazzei both of Walnut, Illinois; two grandchildren; one brother Frank Mazzei of Eureka, California; his mother Judy Mazzei of Eureka, California; his father and stepmother Frank (Doris) Mazzei of Weed, California ; maternal grandmother Ruby Schuetzle of Eureka, California; and his paternal grandmother Mary Teresa Mazzei of Weed, California.

He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandfathers.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Brian Moore pastor of the First Christian Church of Walnut officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery with military rites by Walnut American Legion Post #179. Visitation will be on Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.
