Charles Smith Succumbs Today - Tampico Resident Ill Two Weeks With Heart

Charles Stuart Smith, 67, a resident of Tampico since 1907, passed away Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the family home following an illness of two weeks from heart trouble.  Mr. Smith clerked for several years in the Greenman Drug Store in Tampico and since Mr. Greenman's death and the store was closed, Mr. Smith had retired.  He was born May 12, 1870 at Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, a son of John and Anna Massy Smith.  He received his education there.

On Nov. 6, 1894 he was married to Minnie Brants at Hooppole. He was secretary of Yorktown Lodge A.F. and A.M. of Tampico, and a member of the Evangelical Church of Hooppole.  He has served as a member of the Tampico village board and also as highway commissioner of the township.

 Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Ethel C. Davis of Tampico, a son, William S. Smith of Princeton, two brothers, John Smith of Holland, Ontario, Canada, and Alex Smith of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Dietrick of Turlock, Calif.  There are a number of nieces and nephews. 

 Tentative plans are to hold Masonic funeral services Monday with interment in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
