Mrs. Mae Smith Dies Thursday

Prophetstown: - Mrs. Mae Smith, 81, died early Thursday morning at Sterling Care Center, where she had been a resident for three and a half weeks.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Yorktown with Pastor Joel Rustad officiating.  Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery.  Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Gardner Chapel in Prophetstown.  Memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

The former Mae Doty was born May 13, 1893 in Sheffield, the daughter of W. W. and Minie Johnston Doty. She was educated in Bureau County schools. She was a member of Royal Neighbors at Thomas and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Yorktown. She was married to Chester Smith of Sheffield on April 6, 1910.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Eldon (Verla) Orlowski of Prophetstown; one brother, Wilbert Doty of Mineral; and one sister, Mrs. George (Ruby) Peterson of Manlius.

She was preceded by her husband, one daughter and two brothers.
