Mark Van DeVelde of Palatine
Funeral prayer services for Mr. Mark Van
DeVelde, 43, formerly of Sterling, IL, will be
conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday, at the McDonald-
Allen Funeral Home, 505 1st Ave., Sterling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at
10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sterling,
with the Rev. Jesus Dominguez and the
Rev. Ted Schmidt co-officiating. Burial will be
in St. Mary's Cemetery in Tampico, IL.


Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.
Thursday at the McDonald-Allen Funeral
Home in Sterling, with the rosary recited at
4:30 p.m.

Born Sept. 22,1962, in Sterling, the son of
Robert and Rita (nee Callahan) Van DeVelde,
he died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 18,2006, at
his home in Palatine.

Mark was a graduate of Sterling High
School and Drake University, where he graduated
cum laude from the college of business.
He was employed by SVG Distribution, a national
electronic game manufacturer and distributor, as a
sales and marketing manager.

He was an active member of the Strong
Men For Christ Organization.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and
Rita Van DeVelde of Sterling, Illinois; one
daughter, Callahan "Callie" Van DeVelde of
Schaumburg; one sister, Christine (Donald)
Luskin of Portola Valley, Calif.; two brothers,
Bruce (Debbie) Van DeVelde of Ames, Iowa,
and Craig (Debbie) Van DeVelde of Naperville;
and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial has been established in his
memory to St. Mary's Grade School, the
American Heart Association, Special Olympics
for Children and St. Monica Parish, Chicago,
IL.

Arrangements were completed by the
Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, 815-379-
2010.
