TAMPICO – Otto E. Dobbeke, 79, of Tampico, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He was a lifetime farmer and worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1995.

Otto was born July 4, 1932, in Ohio, the son of Otto C. Sr. and Olive (Foltz) Dobbeke. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Mary L. Branscum on Jan. 31, 1976, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown.

Survivors include his wife of Tampico; eight nieces; two nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, Fred “Fritz,” Arthur and Henrich; and three sisters, Freda, Lena and Lillian.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Oehlert, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Hopeland Cemetery in Buda.

A memorial has been established.
