OBITUARY NOTICES

McKenzie Parent

TAMPICO - McKenzie (Mac) Havens Parent, 85, of Tamico, died Tuesday evening in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Allen-Schmitt-Garland Funeral Chapel in Tampico with the Rev. Brad Wilson, pastor of the /First United Methodist Church o Tampico, Officiating. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Prophets Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Mr. Parent was born June 26, 1896 in Tampico, the son of William and Edith (McKenzie) Parent. He was united in marriage to Ethel Howlett on Aug. 26, 1917 in Tampico. She preceded him in death  on May 19, 1978. The couple attended Worsham Mortuary College in Chicago and then returned to Tampico in 1920 to assist his father in the funeral home. They owned and operated the funeral home from 1934 until 1961. He then sold the funeral home to his nephew, William h. Schmitt.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters and one brother.
