Francis M. “Pat” Keegan

FENTON, Ill. — Francis M. “Pat” Keegan, 89, of Fenton, died Monday at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, Ill. 


Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Erie, Ill. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 5:30 p.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. 

He was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Fenton to William and Mary Barry Keegan. He married Esther Jean Bush on May 4, 1946, in Tampico, Ill. She died in 1995. 

He was a farmer and bus driver for Fenton Elementary School and the Erie School District for the first two years after the consolidation. 

He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church where he served on and was past president of the Parish Council. He was a member and past president of the Fenton Elevator, past secretary and vice president of the Whiteside County (Ill.) Fair Board, which he served on for 32 years. He was elected as Friend of the Fair in 2002. He also served as a drainage district trustee, was on the original Whiteside County Sheriff’s Merit Commission and was the Democratic precinct committeeman for many years. He was a charter member of the Lake Erie Country Club and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include one son, Michael (Wanda) Keegan of Erie; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Kathryn Bush of Morrison, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the church.
