RASMUSSEN

Howard C Rasmussen, 95, died, Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Good Neighbor's in Sterling, on his 72nd wedding anniversary to his wife Laurel. Howard was born April 8, 1917 in Tampico, the son of Carl and Cecille (Breed) Rasmussen.

Howard was a self-employed farmer and had owned and operated a feed and elevator business in Tampico.

Howard married Laurel Matthews on August 16, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and the Ancient Accepted and Free Masonic Lodge #293, Prophetstown, since 1948.

Howard was involved in real estate, a land developer and contractor, he also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.

Survivors included, his wife, Laurel; one daughter, Karen (Richard) Palmer of Sterling; two sons, Gary (Joyce) Rasmussen of Homosassa, FL and Stanley (Nancy) Rasmussen of Rock Falls; eight grandchildren, Adam (Patti) Palmer, Rachel (Matt) Bollinger, Ryan (Kara) Palmer, Troy (Mary) Rasmussen, Tiffani (Jeff) Behrens, Tonya (Shawn) Stallion, Anne (Greg) Wurth and David Rasmussen and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Howard was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Rasmussen.

Funeral services were held at 11 a. m. Saturday, August, 18, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sterling, with Pastor Nancy Weingartner officiating. Masonic Graveside services were held at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10-11 AM Saturday, prior to services at the church.

A memorial has been established to Wesley United Methodist Church.

Howard C. Rasmussen, 95, of Sterling, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Good Neighbor Care in Sterling, on his 72nd wedding anniversary to his wife, Laurel.
