Walter "Wally" Arthurs, Jr, age 85 of Sterling died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown.

Wally was born October 7, 1930 in Lawrence County, Ohio the son of Walter and Marjorie (Herrell) Arthurs, Sr. He married Margaret Mabrey on March 24, 1978 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2015. He worked as a supervisor at Wonder Bread and Sunbeam Bread Company in Rock Falls. Wally also worked as a driver for RC Smith Transportation in Morrison. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Wally was a member and past commander of the Rock Falls VFW. He also was an avid pigeon flyer and was the founding member of the Rock River Valley Racing Pigeon Club.

Survivors include four daughters Barbara (Bryan) McBee of Huntsville, AL, Pamela (BJ) Fenwick of Sterling, Peggy (Jeff) Harrington of Rock Falls, and Kathy Miller of Seward, NE, two step-daughters Vicki Voss of Rock Falls, and Marina Voss of Sterling, two sons Craig Arthurs of Lyndon, and Dave (Cami) Arthurs of Prophetstown, two step-sons Elwood Don Voss of Ashton, and Randall (Rachel) Voss of Port St. Lucie, FL, three sisters Norma (Ernest) Williams of Freeport, Vera Trego of Loves Park, and Judy Lynn (Dave) Fogel of Van Orin, 22 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 35 step-great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and one special friend Devoe Manning.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00PM Thursday, October 15, 2015 at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. An inurnment service at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling will be 12:00PM Friday, October 16, 2015 with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Military honors will follow at the cemetery by the Rock Falls American Legion.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
