PROPHETSTOWN – Arlene M. Kerkhove, 87, of Prophetstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Arlene was born April 11, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Myldred (McCaslin) Coers. She was united in marriage to Walter Kerkhove on April 16, 1950, in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1975. She was an Avon saleswoman for more than 60 years. She was a member of Tampico United Methodist Church and the Wa Tan Ya Club.

She is survived by one son, Arlyn Kerkhove of Prophetstown; one daughter, Rita (Eddie) Munz of Tampico; two grandchildren, Scott and Amy Meier; four great-grandchildren, Bradley Meier, Michael Jackley, Ruby Anne Jackley, and Lucas Meier; two brothers, Russell (Josephine) Coers of Tampico and Earl John (Pat) Coers of Deer Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Bradley Meier; and two brothers, Harold and Francis Coers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor of Tampico United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
