Marshall Meier

Marshall was born July 31, 1928, in Clinton, IA, to Fred R. and Ada (Sibley) Meier, Sr. He was educated in the Prophetstown grade schools until age 9 and then attended the Valley Grade School in Fenton, IL, until graduating from 8th grade. Marshall married Lucille Grooms on July 24, 1953, in Clinton, IA. She died March 18, 1996. He was employed by the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, IL until retirement. Marshall was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church and enjoyed boating and fishing.

Survivors include one sister, Gladys Swanson of Prophetstown, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille, two sisters, Emma Rosenow and Genevieve Wirth; three brothers, Russell “Rusty” Meier, Arnold “Buck” Meier, and Fred Meier, Jr.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, 320 Lafayette St., Prophetstown, IL

OFFICIATING: Rev. Oscar N. Carrasco – Pastor of Prophetstown United Methodist Church – Prophetstown, IL

VISITATION: 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 28, 2016  - service at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown, IL

INTERMENT: Riverside Cemetery – Prophetstown, IL

MEMORIAL: Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center
