Roger Kerkmann Frank, age 80, of Rock Falls, IL and formerly of Walnut, IL died Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Regency Care in Sterling. Roger was born on August 12, 1935 in Alantic, IA, the son of George and Pearle (Kerkmann) Frank. He attended Atlantic public schools and graduated from Iowa State University in 1958. He served in the United States Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to Emily Miller on November 7, 1959 in Elgin, Illinois. Roger was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut for 50 years where he served on the church council and various boards. He served on the Walnut Grade School Board for 12 years and was a lifelong farmer in the Harmon area for 50 years before retiring and moving to Rock Falls in 2000. In retirement, he volunteered for the VITAL program at Sauk Valley Community College and Roger also enjoyed reading and golfing. He is survived by his wife Emily Frank of Rock Falls, IL; two sons Timothy Frank of Clinton, IA, Thomas (Laurie) Frank of Rock Falls, IL. Roger was also a loving and devoted grandfather to Lindsey, Brady, Nolan, Aaron, and Hailey Frank. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut with the Rev. David Menet officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Regency Care in Sterling, IL.
