MAQUOKETA, Iowa – Laurence Levi Kropf, 83, of Maquoketa, formerly of Tampico, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.
 
Laurence was born July 7, 1935, in Shelby County, the son of Raymond and Esther (Shrock) Kropf. Laurence married Ada Marie Miller on Dec. 26, 1969, in Nappanee, Indiana. He spent more than 40 years as a custom sheep shearer, and did custom cider pressing for many years.
 
Survivors include his wife, Ada; sons, Joseph (Sheryl) Kropf and Nathan (Angela) Kropf; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Harold (Rosanna) Kropf, Oran (Miriam) Kropf, and Lovina Kropf; and brother and sister in-law, Wayne Kropf and Fannie Kropf.
 
Laurence was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Lamoine; and siblings, Leonard, Ivan, and Fern.
 
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Springbrook Amish-Mennonite Church, 14257 308th Ave., Bellevue, Iowa. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Springbrook Amish-Mennonite Cemetery. Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue is handling arrangements.
