Marlene Holmberg

PROPHETSTOWN – Marlene Holmberg, 84, of Prophetstown, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island. She taught in the Prophetstown and Fulton River Bend school districts, retiring in 1990.
 
Marlene was born Aug. 2, 1932, in Provo, Utah, to John D. and Zelda W. (Henderson) Hansen. She married Walter E. “Wally” Holmberg Jr. on Aug. 13, 1951, in Pocatello, Idaho. She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
 
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Cheri (Bruce) Rhodes of Lake Ozark, Missouri; three sons, Scott Holmberg of Lyndon, Walter E. Holmberg III of Prophetstown, and Gene (Linda) Holmberg of Bettendorf, Iowa; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Connie (Richard) Thomsen of Salt Lake City.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Norval Hansen.
 
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Prophetstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Oscar N. Carrasco officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. 
 
Memorials have been established to Prophet Hills Country Club and Pat’s Table.
