Stanley Calsyn - 73

TAMPICO – Stanley A. Calsyn, 73 of Tampico died Friday March 8, 2019 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

He was born on March 4, 1946, the son of Frank and Marie (Grimes) Calsyn. He attended Tampico High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Army from January 1966 – November 1967 as a Spec 4. Stan had worked for 34 years at the Parish Alford Plant of Northwestern Steel and Wire Co in Rock Falls. Later he worked construction and also at Mazel for approximately 6 years. Stan enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, traveling and cruises. He was an avid racing pigeon flyer. Stan was a member and served as an officer in the Rock River Valley Pigeon Club; a member and officer of the Corn Country Combine Club; and a member of Tampico American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jan Hughes Calsyn; three sons: Steven (Penny) Calsyn of Rock Falls, Michael (Dan) Calsyn of Cedar Rapids, IA and Brian Calsyn of Rock Falls; his daughter Leanne (Ken) Crane of Tampico; two step sons: David Vallez of Iowa City and Michael Vallez of Waukegan; his brother Dennis (Kris) Calsyn of Bettendorf, IA; two sisters: June (Art) Spencer of Tampico and Peggy Deets of Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Nancy in infancy and Janice Eskaria

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 12, 2019 from 3:30 – 5:30 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. The funeral will follow at 5:30 PM with Jeremiah Parker officiating. Military rites will conclude the services. Burial will take place at a later date.
