Norman Konneck 12/15/1943-2/27/2001

Norman "Skip" Konneck, 57, of 309 W. Market Street, Tampico, IL, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL.

Mr. Konneck was born in Spring Valley, IL, the son of Charles and Anna Poff Konneck. He was united in marriage to Roberta Gerdes on November 1, 1985 at Yorktown Lutheran Church. He was a 1961 graduate of Manlius High School and was a night shift supervisor at Reliant Industries in Rock Falls for the past 16 months. He was an avid Dale Earnhart fan, loved to work on cars and tinker in the garage.

He is survived by his wife Roberta of Tampico, IL; one son, Scott (Dana) Downs of Rock Falls, IL; Kenneth Downs of Sterling, IL, Steven Downs of Rock Falls, IL; his mother, Anna Konneck of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, one sister, Chris Tarbuk of Nashville, TN; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Bob and Jean Gerdes of Tampico, IL; his brother-in-law Chet Gerdes of Sterling, IL; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Marsha.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:30a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with the Rev. Jeffrey Clementz, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Yorktown, IL officiating. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Vistation will be Thursday from 5-8p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

Tampico: - Norman "Skip" Konneck, 57, of 309 W. Market St., Tampico, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at CGH Medical Center.
 
Mr. Konneck was born in Spring Valley, the son of Charles and Anna (Poff) Konneck. He was united in marriage to Roberta Gerdes on Nov. 1, 1985, at Yorktown Lutheran Church.  He was a 1961 graduate of Manlius High School and was a night shift supervior at Reliant Industries in Rock Falls for the past 16 months.  He was an avid Dale Earnhart fan, loved to work on cars and tinker in the garage.
 
He is survived by is wife, Roberta of Tampico; one son, Scott (Dana) Konneck of Sheffield;  three stepsons, Leland (Diane) Downs of Rock Falls, Kenneth Downs of Sterling and Steven Downs of Rock Falls; his mother, Anna Konneck of Nashville, Tenn.; six granchildren; a sister, Chris Tarbuk of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bob and Jean Gerdes of Tampico; his brother-in-law, Chet Gerdes of Sterling; one niece; and one nephew.
 
He was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Marsha.
 
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 2, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2001, from 5-8 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico.
