Obitiuary for Lucy Ann (Newton) Wright

Lucy Ann Newton was born in Crawford county, Pennsylvania, Feb. 18, 1839, came with their father's family to Illinois in 1850, and was married to Moses C. Wright in 1858, and died at her home in Greenville, April 11, 1896, being 57 years 1 month and 22 days old. She was the mother of nine sons, eight of whom are living, all grown to manhood who, with their aged and feeble father and several sisters and bothers mourn her loss. Something over ago Mrs. Wright's health (which was never very good) began to fail and soon consumption was whispered, andin a short time it was plain we could not have her withus long. Still, throughout those months of suffering whe was quiet and resigned, trusting all in the hands of the Lord. In her last hours she was conscious and bade each one of her sons and her faithful companion farewell, and passed calmly away. Hers was truly a christian life. She was a most devoted mother, a good lvong wife, a very dear sister and a kind friendly neighbor. . Her funeral was (by her request) held at her home on Monday, where a great gathering paid their last respects to poor Aunt Lucy. The Revs. Williamson, Talbot, McNeal and the Christian minister of New Bedford, conducted the funeral services. The remains were held at rest in the Fairfield cemetery. The family have our heartfelt sympathy.
