Archie A. Yarde Jr., age 84, of 305 E. Market Street in Tampico, Illinois died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Prophets Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown, Illinois.

He was born on February 9, 1922 in Larimore, North Dakota, the son of Archie A. Sr. and Bessie Mckenzie. He was united in marriage to Clemma June Buchanan in Tampico, Illinois on October 26, 1946. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2003. He worked for the local telephone company as a repairman for many years. He was a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church, and former member of the Tampico Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, antiquing, his grandchildren, his family and the Cubs. He thoroughly enjoyed life and laughter.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Ben) Pennington of Bettendorf, Iowa, Betty (Don) Bechtold of Geneva, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jeff Pennington, Brenna and Kelly Bechtold.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother Robert.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monty Fox pastor officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HIS MEMORY TO THE TAMPICO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
