Fred Glassburn

TAMPICO — Fred A. Glassburn, 68, of 3435 Backbone Road, Tampico, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at CGH Medical Center. He was a lifetime farmer in the Tampico area.

Mr. Glassburn was born May 29, 1938, in Sterling, the son of Stanley L. and Gladys E. (McDonald) Glassburn. He married Betty A. Casson on March 3, 1962, at Tampico United Methodist Church. He was a member of Tampico United Methodist Church and was a Tampico Fire Department trustee for many years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kim (John) Christiansen of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Holly Glassburn of West Minster, Colo.; two sons, Steve (Tonya) Glassburn and Mike (Angie) Glassburn, both of Tampico; a brother, Glenn Glassburn of Fredericksburg, Va.; a sister, Marlene Nelson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren; an uncle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Tampico United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Monty Fox, pastor officiating. Burial is at Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico. Memorials have been established to Tampico United Methodist Church and Tampico Rural Fire Protection District. Mr. Fred A. Glassburn, age 68, of 3435 Backbone Road; Tampico, Il. died Saturday morning (Sept. 16,2006) at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Il.

Mr. Glassburn was born on May 29, 1938 in Sterling, Il. the son of Stanley L. and Gladys E. McDonald Glassburn. He was united in marriage to Betty A. Casson on March 3,1962 at The Tampico United Methodist Church. He farmed in The Tampico area during his lifetime. He was a member of The Tampico United Methodist Church and he was a Tampico Fire Department Trustee for many years.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Tampico, 2 daughters Kim (John) Christiansen of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Holly Glassburn of West Minster, Colorado, 2 sons Steve (Tonya) Glassburn of Tampico, Il. and Mike (Angie) Glassburn of Tampico,Il., 5 grandchildren, 1 brother Glenn Glassburn of Fredericksburg, Virginia, 1 sister Marlene Nelson of St. Petersburg, Florida, 1 uncle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in The Tampico United Methodist Church with Rev. Monty Fox, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-8 PM in The Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HIS MEMORY TO THE TAMPICO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH AND THE TAMPICO RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT.
