Lark C. Russell For ManyYears A Fairfield Farmer Died At His Home Here

Lark C. RUSSELL for many years one of the well known farmers and stock raisers of Fairfield township south of Tampico, died at his home here on north Main street last Friday morning about 5:45 o'clock from the effects of a stroke with which he was stricken but a week previous at the old farm home and from which he never regained consciousness. He was brought to his home here where he gradually sank until the end came.

Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the late residence, conducted by Rev. W. J. EYLES, pastor of the Baptist church assisted by Eld. Miles BROWNRIGG, pastor of the Christian church. Appropriate music was rendered by Mesdames F. A. BREWER and Hazel GLASSBURN accompanied by Miss Kathleen FRANCE. The pall bearers were old friends and neighbors: Ray McKENZIE, Geo. DRAYTON, Albert FERRIS, Wm. RUCK, Wm. LOVE and Barney McGRADY. There were a number of beautiful floral tributes. Interment was in the Tampico cemetery.

Larkum Corey RUSSELL was born in Belvidere, Nov. 9, 1842 and moved with his parents to Henry county when quite young, later he moved to Bureau county where he resided for fifty years with the exception of one year spent in California. . He was married to Ellen E. HOPKINS in 1868 and to this union three children were born: Horace Jay of Tampico, Merritt Franklin of Portland, Oregon and Sadie L. who died in infancy. He was again married to Katie FLYNN of Wyanet March 2, 1876 and to this union six children were born: Maurice A. of Plankington, S. Dakota, Edna ERICKSON of Sterling, Margaret JOHNSON, Hattie PELTON, Misses Mabel and Kathyrn all of Tampico, also six grand children and one great grand child.

On Dec. 1, 1915 he met with an accident to which his hip was broken and he was kept to his bed for seven weeks, where with his sick wife he was tenderly cared for by his children. In the spring of 1916, he moved to Tampico, in just one month Oct. 26, 1916, his wife died.

Mr. RUSSELL was a charter member of the Yorktown camp of modern Woodman and served as constable to Fairfield township for more than twenty years. He bought and sold lots of land, raised stock on a large scale and lived on the farm where he resided for more than thirty-five years. A good neighbor and father and always ready to countribute liberally to any good cause.

Relatives from out of town who were here to attend the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. C. C. FLYNN of Toutoon, M. F. FLYNN of Galesburg, M. A. RUSSELL of Plankington, S. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. A. E. ERICKSON of Sterling.

DEATH OF TAMPICO MAN L.C. RUSSELL PASSED AWAY FRIDAY FOLLOWING A STROKE
 
L. C. RUSSELL, an aged resident of Tampico, passed away at his late home Friday morning at the age of 78 years. He suffered a stroke of paralysis last Saturday and never regained consciousness. His wife passed away last spring. He leaves the following children to mourn his death: Maurice of South Dakota, Frank in Portland, Oregon, Jay in Tampico, Mrs. Edna ERICKSON of Sterling, Mrs. Helen PELTON and Mrs. Fred JOHNSON of Tampico, and Mabel and Katherine at home. The funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
