Keith R. Newman, age 80, of 2661 Coleta Rd. Tampico, Illinois died Friday, October 13, 2006 at Prophets Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown, Illinois.

Arrangements are pending at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico.

Keith Newman

TAMPICO - Keith R. Newman, 80, of Tampico, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006.

He was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Tampico, the son of Victor E. and Letha (Larson) Newman. He married Leone Mardell Thomas on Aug. 2, 1946, in Tampico. He farmed in the Tampico area his entire life. Mr. Newman served as the minister at Yorktown Church of Christ from 1951 to 1958. He also served as lay minister and past founder of Prophetstown Church of Christ. He was founder and charter member of the board of trustees of Rock River Christian Camp, Polo, and also helped construct the buildings at the camp. He was instrumental in the construction of Yorktown Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Tampico High School.

He is survived by his wife, Leone; and their children, Lydia L. (Arthur) Sage and Daniel K. Newman, both of Tampico, Laura A. (Steve) Woodfall of Prophetstown, Dr. Adell V. (Robert) Lee of Moline and Rolland T. Newman of Myacca City, Fla.; one brother, Ora Newman of Tampico; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Warren G. Newman and Vernon V. Newman.

Private family services will be Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, with Clayton Newman, pastor, his grandson, officiating. Burial will follow at Tampico Memorial Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Tampico Ambulance Service in his memory would be appreciated.
