FORMER RESIDENT IS TAKEN BY DEATH

Mrs. Harriet LaDue Baldwin Falls to Rally After Stroke Early Monday Morning

Mrs. Harriet LaDue Baldwin, 80, passed away at four o'clock Monday morning at the home of her son, Dr. S. B. LaDue, at Chillicothe. Mrs. Baldwin had recently recovered from several weeks illness with pneumonia. She suffered a stroke Wednesday of last week and her death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage Monday morning.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Gardner chapel, following services held at Chillicothe Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. W. Harvey Young, pastor of Plymouth Congregational Church of Chillicothe, officiating at both services. Assisting with the flowers at the local service are Mrs. F. L. Dudley, Mrs. Clarence Arnett, Mrs. Roy Crook, Mr. and Mrs. Lysle Soliday and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Burroughs. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery with G. S. Aylsworth, Walter Forward, Oloff Crosell, F. L. Dudley, H. B. McGrady and Dr. S. A. Smith, the latter of Chillicothe serving as pallbearers.

The daughter of Louis L. and Emily Bradford (Bradley sic) Griffin, pioneer residents of Tampico community, Mrs. Baldwin was born at Tampico March 22, 1866. She was united in marriage to Francis M. LaDue of Tampico February 14, 1884, and they engaged in farming in that vicinity until Mr. LaDue retired from the farm and they came to Prophetstown. Mr. LaDue died in 1935. Mrs. LaDue continued to live at the Prophetstown home until 1941 when she married Frank H. Baldwin of Pomona, Cal. Mr. Baldwin died August 28, 1946, and since that time Mrs. Baldwin has made her home with her son, Dr. Stanley B. LaDue, at Chillicothe. She was a member of the Christian church at Tampico, and was affiliated with the Prophetstown and Chillicothe Congregational churches.

Mrs. LaDue is survived byi two sons, Lewis E. LaDue of Prophetstown and Dr. Stanleyi B. LaDue of Chillicothe; two grandsons, Howard S. LaDue of Prophetstown and Stanely B. LaDue Jr., of Chillicothe, and four granddaughters, Mrs. Paul Schutt, Rock Falls; Mrs. Gordon Garland, Tampico; and the Misses Vida and Marianne Glassburn of Sterling. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Georgia B. Glassburn, and a grandson, Ronald Glassburn.
