Last Rites Held For Edwin Alvin Pierce

Tampico -- Funeral services were held for Edwin Alvin Pierce on Monday afternoon at the Schmitt Chapel in Tampico, the Rev. Edgard Perez officiating.

Archie Yarde, soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Ivory Palaces" accompanied by Mrs. David Hoover.

Mrs. Howard Boostrom and Mrs. Bessie Yarde assisted by the Hillcrest Greenhouse were in charge of the many beautiful floral tributes.

Burial was in Tampico Memorial cemetery with Marshall Rotz, James Meighan, Harry Hurd Jr., Holger Pedersen, Kenneth Ross, Ellie Wenger as casketbearers.

Edwin A. Pierce Dies This Morning

Tampico: - Edwin Alvin Pierce, 59, of Tampico, passed away this morning suddenly in his home.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Schmitt Funeral Chapel, Tampico, the Rev. Edgard Perez officiating with burial in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Edwin Pierce was born Nov. 9, 1909 in Drinkwater, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of M. L. and May Pierce.  He lived in Tampico most of his life and attended Tampico schools.  He married Gladys Glassburn on June 17, 1929 in Morrison.  He was a member of the Tampico First United Methodist Church, Yorktown Lodge 655 AF & AM Tampico, Moline Consistory Lodge and Modern Woodmen of America.

He is survived by his widow, one son, Gordon Pierce of Harvey; his mother, May Hunter of Tampico and one grandson, Gordon Scott Pierce.

He was preceded by his father.
