WELL KNOW RESIDENT LAID AT REST

SERVICES FOR MRS. LUNA CUMMINGS WERE HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services for the late MRS. LUNA CUMMINGS were held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at the late home. REV. F. T. PALM of Chicago, a former pastor of the Methodist church here, was in charge of the services, assisted by REV. W. W. MAXWELL the present pastor. The home was filled with relatives and friends come to pay their last respects and there were many beautiful flowers, mute testimony to the esteem in which she was held.

REV. MAXWELL opened the services by reading several verses of scripture, followed by the 103rd Psalm and a prayer. He then read the obituary.

REV. PALM used as his text the 9th verse, 6th chapter of Galatians, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” In his talk REV. PALM paid tribute to MRS. CUMMINGS as one who had led a useful life, always thinking of the welfare of others. He closed with reading “The House by the Side of the Road” and the words of the hymn “Jesus Savior Pilot Me.”

A short service was held at the grave. Interment was made at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery beside her husband. Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased. They were VERNON DENISON, LEROY STEWART, JACK SHERE, ASA STEWART, RALPH LOUDENBURG and H. J. KOLB. Among those from out of town who attended the services were MRS. Gifted as she was by a keen mind and a sense of humour, as well as an attractive manner, she was held in the highest esteem by all with whom she came in contact.
