On March 18, 2007 Dale Bunker Greenwood passed away in the same house he was brought into this world 86 years ago.

He was born on July 22, 1920 in his family home south of Yorktown, the son of Forrest and Matie Bunker Greenwood. He was united in marriage to Betty Jane Mercer on December 28, 1945 in Kasbeer, Illinois. He was a self-employed farmer his entire life, farming the same ground his parents farmed. He was a devout member and deacon of the Tampico Church of Christ where he also served on the church board and a former member of Yorktown Church of Christ. He was on the Bureau County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was the Fairfield Township Drainage Board. He was also active in the Whiteside and Bureau County Rural Youth Organization. Dale was not a collector of material things, but he was a great diplomat and teacher of all the wonderful things that nature gives us. He always had time to teach not only his children, but all children, how to believe in our lord and all the things our lord provided us with.

He left behind his loving wife of 61 years Betty Jane Greenwood of Yorktown, Illinois; four children, Carol Lee (David Parrott) Fox of Yorktown, Illinois, Larry Gene Greenwood of Sheffield, Illinois, Gary Duane (Lonnie) Greenwood of Rock Falls, Illinois, Linda Marie (Neil Johnson) Greenwood of Lyndon, Illinois; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and survived by one nephew Toby (Linda) Greenwood of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Leo, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Tampico Church of Christ with the Rev. Clarke Devore officiating. Burial will be in Yorktown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HIS MEMORY TO THE TAMPICO AMBULANCE.
